个人觉得单纯的SEO，前景不是很明朗。可以往2个方向发展吧1.专业化/职业化不断提高专业程度而不单单是简单的发外链谈友链，大站SEO，了解从服务器（日志/蜘蛛抓取等），网站架构（web信息的展现）到深入了解搜索引擎本身的算法等等，但是往往只有大站才有这种程度的需求，所以选择不多；其他的可能还网站合作，资源互换等，大概有点偏商务合作，不过感觉前景也一般；做SEO如果单纯处于执行层面，我觉得很快就会遇到瓶颈，往策略层面的话就去做运营，但是运营光是SEO也很难。
如果呆在一个公司以SEO为职业，可以这样考虑，你做SEO是为了抢流量，而其实SEO只是一个来流量的手段而已，不是目的，也不是一切，那么SEO掌握之后，你可以去了解其他来流量的形式，包括PPC竞价，EDM，网络广告的投放等，掌握各种流量的形式之后，你可以考虑的是如何将流量的价值最大化，这就涉及用户体验/网站优化/网站分析等等，了解所有这些东西，能让你有一个全局的观念。一个网站或者互联网产品，从吸引用户到用户消费，这个过程涉及的东西很多，都可以去慢慢扩展。从产品/网站在互联网中的展示(SEO不就是为了在搜索引擎上展示嘛，那PPC/Banner广告也是一样的目的，只是渠道不同)，点击(为什么说Meta Descripton重要？横幅广告的设计要有诱惑性？)，再到着陆页面，产品描述，购物车流程等，其实一是为了来流量来客户，涉及指标有展示率点击率等，二是为了让来到的客户消费了再走，衡量的指标可以有注册/购买率等，再牛一点，让网站在每个客户身上都赚到大把的钱，那么产品的品类应该如何选择，怎么组合，如何向客户推荐相关产品等，这些可能涉及到市场需求，数据挖掘之类的，我也不懂。总之如果单单想着SEO，好像能做的事情不多，但是如果把眼观放大一点，关注到整个流程，可以做的事情还很多。我觉得一个比较好的方向是往网站分析/数据分析方面去发展，竞争越来越激烈，运营的精细化程度肯定越来越高，如何花最少的钱产生最多的利润，其实也就是ROI，这个只能通过数据分析来找办法，所以网站分析是一个不错的切入点，网站分析的专业度也较高，大家可以多去了解。2.草根方向也就是自己做站网赚之类的，只要你有办法抢到流量，你就有赚钱的机会，你看人家站群做左旋肉碱，做外贸SEO，都有赚大把大把的，也许你觉得在新浪微博做好像很牛出去倍儿有面子，但是人家那默默无闻做站年入几百万的也不知多爽，如果你喜欢，也可以依靠SEO技术去搞百度搞Google，也许没几个人知道你的牛，但是你那不赚吆喝，赚钱！
