LCD vs. OLED
Here are the main differences between LCD and OLED displays:
• Black levels - OLED displays have perfect black levels since the pixels can actually turn completely off. LCDs have a backlight so the black levels are not true black. This results in better contrast and darker shadows on OLED screens.Chuwi hipad plus
Brightness - LCD displays can typically get significantly brighter than OLEDs, especially on HDR content. This is because OLED pixels have a rated maximum brightness they can achieve.
• Viewing angles - OLED pixels illuminate themselves, so the image quality remains consistent at wide viewing angles. LCDs use a backlight so the image can wash out at extreme angles.
• Response time - OLED pixels can change color almost instantly, resulting in faster response times and less motion blur. LCDs have slower pixel response times.
• Size - OLED panels currently max out around 77 inches, while LCDs can go much larger, up to 100+ inches.
• Lifespan - Current OLED panels have a lifespan of around 30,000 - 50,000 hours before noticeable deterioration, compared to 50,000 - 60,000 hours for LCDs.
• Cost - OLED TVs and monitors still cost significantly more than equivalent-sized LCD displays, though the gap is narrowing.
So in summary, OLED delivers better black levels, contrast, viewing angles and response times, while LCDs can get much brighter and are typically more affordable, especially in larger sizes. It really comes down to your priorities and budget. Both technologies have their advantages.
