Our Key Findings SEO 2019

Here is a Summary of Our Key Findings:

1. Long-form content gets an average of 77.2% more links than short articles.Therefore, long-form content appears to be ideal for backlink acquisition.

2. When it comes to social shares, longer content outperforms short blog posts. However, we found diminishing returns for articles that exceed 2,000 words.

3. The vast majority of online content gets few social shares and backlinks. In fact, 94% of all blog posts have zero external links.

4. A small percentage of “Power Posts” get a disproportionate amount of social shares. Specifically, Specifically, 1.3% of articles generate 75% of all social shares.

5. We found virtually no correlation between backlinks and social shares. This suggests that there’s little crossover between highly-shareable content and content that people link to.

6. Longer headlines are correlated with more social shares. Headlines that are 14-17 words in length generate 76.7% more social shares than short headlines.

7. Question headlines (titles that end with a “?”) get 23.3% more social shares than headlines that don’t end with a question mark.

8. There’s no “best day” to publish a new piece of content. Social shares are distributed evenly among posts published on different days of the week.

9. Lists posts are heavily shared on social media. In fact, list posts get an average of 218% more shares than “how to” posts and 203% more shares than infographics.

10. Certain content formats appear to work best for acquiring backlinks. We found that “Why Posts”, “What Posts” and infographics received 25.8% more links compared to videos and “How-to” posts.

11. The average blog post gets 9.7x more shares than a post published on a B2B site. However, the distribution of shares and links for B2B and B2C publishers appears to be similar.

最近一些朋友问我关于On-Page SEO的问题，当我反问他们，你对站内优化有哪些了解？提到最多的就是关键词浓度和站内链接，但这些远远不够。

1. SEO友好的URL



Google Search Console帮助文档中的原话是”Keep a simple URL structure”，我们优化的方向就是保持URL的简短干净。







3-5个词，覆盖页面关键词，就这么简单。

例如,http://www.example.com/i-love-seo/



过于复杂的网址，特别是那些包含多个参数的网址，可能会给谷歌抓取带来麻烦，因为会产生大量不必要的网址，全都指向你网站上相同或相似的内容。Googlebot可能会消耗大量不必要的带宽，也可能无法把你网站上的所有内容完整编入索引。

Huawei Reportedly Targeting Apple and Other Competitor Trade Secret

Apple isn’t the only company that has a plethora of trade secrets, and it sounds like Huawei is interested in as many as it can get its hands on.

According to a report from The Information, China-based Huawei is targeting Apple and other competitors in an effort to ascertain their trade secrets. The goal? To improve the Huawei-branded devices in key areas, ranging from smartphones to smartwatches. The report is based on information gathered from various anonymous sources.

To start, Huawei was very interested in the Apple Watch. Specifically, the heart sensor in Apple’s smart wearable. According to the report, an engineer from Huawei that was working on a smartwatch reached out to a supplier that assists in building the heart sensor that’s baked into the Apple Watch. That engineer got a meeting with that supplier based on a claim that Huawei was working towards a manufacturing deal. However, in reality, the engineer simply probed for specific information regarding the Apple Watch and its heart sensor.

Interestingly, the United States Justice Department has stated that it believes Huawei has a rewards program in place for employees that successfully acquire technology from competing companies. There are allegedly even better bonuses tied to the more secretive bits. So depending on how big the secret is, a Huawei employee can be rewarded quite a bit.

Huawei has used these tactics against other companies, too, including Motorola, Cisco, and others.

It goes beyond talking to suppliers, too. Huawei has reportedly tried to get information from former Apple employees, too. In one story, a worker at Apple immediately interviewed with Huawei after leaving the job. That interview, however, reportedly consisted mostly of the Huawei representative asking over and over again about new products and features. That former Apple worker made the decision to stop taking interviews with Huawei.

Corporate espionage is not new, and it is not something that is going to go away anytime soon. However, while it might be a known quantity it’s never a good thing to have your company directly outed. This is definitely not a good look for Apple.

Apple executives have to be aware that this stuff is happening on a regular basis, too. For instance, we recently reported that a second former Apple employee was being charged with stealing secrets tied to Apple’s “Project Titan” initiative at the company. The first former employee was charged back in July of last year.

• 点击相关搜索结果，在页面中 ctrl+f 搜索“deadlink”
• 在自己的网站中发布相关的内容，然后在维基百科的编辑中用你的网站址替换掉” dead link” 里的内容

这样就得到一条来自维基百科的外链。

 

7. 借鉴同行关键词

在谷歌中，输入你的关键词，把搜索结果中排名靠前的网站记录下来。

 

利用semrush,spyfu 等工具，反查该网站的关键词列表，这样你就可以从列表中选出适合自己的关键词进行写作和优化。

 

8. 优质内容值得分享

坦白说，网上的大部分内容都不值得分享，太水。

优质的内容，是SEO的基础。优质的内容才会得到更多的分享，分享越多，获得外链的机率越大。

• 将社交分享按钮放在页面的显眼位置。这些图标会显著地增加了文章的点赞和转发。

除了著名的企鹅算法和蜂鸟算法，还有一个重要的谷歌算法更新叫做Hilltop。

• 利用Ahrefs 工具，找到自己网站权重的较高的页面。
• 在这页面中做好站内链接。

11. 多用“Because”

在做外链的过程中，我们常用的一种方法就是给其他站长发开发信（outreach email）请求链接。

但是当人看到一封陌生邮件时，会不自然地想到两个问题，“这个人是谁?和“他们想要什么?”

你回答这些问题的速度越快，你的回复率就越高。要在邮件中多使用“因为 Because”这个词。

在《影响力》这本书，以及哈佛大学等的科学研究中，已经证实了Because的魔力。“因为”这个词会让任何请求似乎变得更加合理。

比如下面这个例子，

 

收到这条信息的人会在很短的时间内知道我为什么给他们发邮件。

 

但更重要的是，“because”这个词加强了我的理由，让他们伸出援手，认为这样更合理。

 

12. 认真写YouTube描述

YouTube视频已经越来越多地出现在谷歌搜索结果的首页，不可否认，流媒体时代，视频的传播和影响力越来越大。

答案很简单，认真写好200词以上的视频描述。

14. 在标题中嵌入长尾关键字

如果的你的标题中，只是包含一个关键词，那会白白浪费很多流量。

比如Brian大神的这篇文章，同时包含了 whitehat SEO 和SEO case study 两个长尾词，同一篇帖子就得到了来自多方面的流量积累。

 

当然这里不是让大家一味的堆砌关键词，而是找到适合的组合，打一记漂亮的组合拳。

 

15. 利用维基百科开发关键词

在找关键词的时候大家都会用谷歌关键词规划大师，但是这里的词已经被用烂了，而且竞争非常激烈，更重要的是，这是机器生成的，缺少一种人的创造性。

而维基百科（Wikipedia）是一个非常理想的地方，这里集合了全球各地人们的智慧。

在维基中输入一个关键词，页面中的内容目录，内部链接，参考资料等，都是非常好的关键词来源。

 

16. 利用Best of 搜索 寻找外链机会

做外链，要知道一个与自己主题相关的高质量博客是多么的有价值。

那么，如何找到这些博客呢？

• “[关键词] blogs to follow”
• “best [关键词] posts2018”
• “top [关键词] blogs to follow” + “2018”

这三个谷歌搜索命令可以帮你。

 

当你有新内容发布的时候，可以向这些blog的站长发送outreach邮件，推荐自己的内容，从而有机会得到一个高质量的外链。

 

17. 1800+ 长文

经研究发现，排在google首页的内容，平均长度是1800词以上。

为什么长内容会有这么好的效果？

一方面，长的帖子向谷歌表明，你正在为搜索者提供深入的信息。

另一方面，从心理学角度，长内容给人一种更可信的感觉，也更容易让人们转发。写的那么多，很有道理的样子。

但是一篇350词的文章很难让人产生一种信服的感觉，所以，长篇深入的文章本身就散发着一种魅力。

 

18. 第一个链接优先原则

大家可能会遇到这种情况，在同一个页面中，有两个同的链接指向同一个页面，那谷歌会更关注哪个？

根据第一个链接优先原则，谷歌只会关注第一个链接。

 

比如这种情况，在页面的导航栏和正文内容中，两个不同的链接锚文本，指向同一个页面。谷歌机器人在扫描页面的时候，是按照从上到下的顺序，结果是只有导航栏的链接及锚文本被收录，正文中则完全被忽略。

 

所以，建议大家在写导航栏时，使用关键词丰富的锚文本。

 

19. 创造自己的关键词

因为你自己创造的词，在google 的搜索排名总会是第一。

当你创造出真正原创东西，比如品牌、产品、教程等，开始只有你自己在为这个词进行优化。当你获得一定的影响力之后，它会为你带来大量的专属流量。
